Adult Psychiatric Program

Our Adult Psychiatric Program is designed to be comprehensive enough to treat a variety of mental health issues, but flexible enough to accommodate individual patient needs.

The Ridgeview Programs offer a multitude of treatment programs in order to best suit the individual needs of each client. In order to ensure clients are placed into the correct level of care, our admissions and clinical staff provide assessment and guidance. To maintain an atmosphere of recovery, our continuum of care seamlessly transitions a patient from observation through their first year of recovery.

Mental illness and addiction

Our Recovery Intervention Strategy

Our Staged Recovery Intervention Strategy was developed to address the distortions in body function, emotion, mood, motivation, and cognitive thought, which are associated with co-occurring disorders of mental illness and addiction. These distortions lead to profound problems in the patient’s immediate social environment. All four must be addressed, in order to foster recovery.

It’s been proven that a lasting and positive relationship between regular exercise and positive levels of mental health go hand-in-hand. The evidence for psychological benefits is extremely strong for psychiatric patients. Unfortunately, many behavioral health centers ignore this important relationship. Our facility is proud to go against that paradigm and offer fitness programs to keep our patients active and motivated. These programs include yoga and relaxation groups.

Group Therapy

Ridgeview Behavioral Hospital offers frequently-held support groups for our patients. We provide general support for various chemical addictions, eating disorders, depression, anxiety, and a myriad of behavioral health issues.

Group therapy is a commonly used type of modality used in the treatment of co-occurring disorders such as mental health and substance use. The use of group therapy has been adopted as a best-practice for this field, because it can be a powerful tool for growth and change. Ridgeview Hospital utilizes several types of groups for the treatment of co-occurring disorders. Moreover, the Ridgeview Hospital Social Services Department provides the following group models: process groups, psychoeducational groups, and 12-step groups.

Process Groups are conducted with each of the four units daily by trained and credentialed therapists. A strength of the process group is the unique opportunity for patients to receive various perspectives, support, encouragement, and responses from the therapists and peers in a safe and confidential space. Further, the interpersonal interactions that occur in process groups allow patients a chance to enhance their self-awareness and ability to interact with others. Lastly, a unique characteristic of process groups is the purpose of ensuing intrapsychic change.

Psychoeducation Groups are also provided daily by trained and educated case managers to the patients at Ridgeview Hospital. A psychoeducation groups is a specific group therapy that emphasizes the education of patients about their issues and ways of coping with them. Additionally, psychoeducation provides structured, specific information, often using videotapes or lectures. Moreover, guest speakers are utilized to assist patients in the increased awareness of behavioral, medical, and psychological issues related to co-occurring disorders.

Twelve-Step Groups have been historically an important element in the treatment of co-occurring disorders. Daily, patient-lead, twelve-step groups at Ridgeview Hospital are an integral part of the understanding that lifestyle changes are required for long-term recovery. Therefore, unconditional acceptance, inward reflection, and open and honest interpersonal interaction, and a commitment to change are commonly held values of self-help and support groups. Twelve-step groups improve patients’ abilities to manage their thinking and emotions and to manage day-to-day living in recovery.
